A dinner of FIRE and ICE?

Last night was the premiere of the much anticipated Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon so of course we had to have a viewing party complete with a themed dinner. Each of us contributed to the amazing menu. My personal contributions included "Fire", "Ice".

First up is a dish that was not on the original menu, but I had a large amount of Fried Rice and Mongolian Pork leftover from the night before so the wheels started spinning on how I could repurpose the leftovers, yet turn them into a dish worthy of Westeros (Game of Thrones reference). I combined the rice and pork, added some Sambal for extra "fire", and topped with runny eggs drizzled with Calabrian chili peppers. The name of my new creation? DracaRICE. (If you know you know.) Yes, I can see some of you applauding and some of you rolling your eyes! :)

For more "fire", I also made Buttermilk Fried Chicken Tenders with three glazes - some had lemon pepper garlic sauce (mild), some had homemade buffalo sauce (medium), and some had gochujang sauce (fire). If you look close enough, you can see the red, orange, and yellow colors of the glaze. FYI - soaking chicken in buttermilk makes for incredibly tender meat!

And since you cannot have fire without ice, I made Pomegranate Lime Granita and Peach Mango Granita. Granitas can be made out of pretty much any fruit or juice. I combined the juices in the pans and froze them. The trick for getting the right texture is to scrape the juice every hour or so with a fork as it freezes. It may look like a snowball or shaved ice, but the texture is wonderful. Mine took about six hours total. This also happens to be a perfect light dessert if you do not want something heavy or filling. Add a dollop of whipped cream and you will thank me later.

And not to give away any show spoilers, but if you are a fan and have not watched it yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??? (It is REALLY good.)
