Cooking for a good cause!

Finally Home Animal Rescue is a local all-volunteer non-profit animal rescue that provides homes and veterinary care to homeless, unwanted, or neglected animals and then works tirelessly to find them forever homes. I have seen first-hand the level of care they provide and all of the good they do, so when a dear friend asked me to contribute to their bake sale today, I immediately accepted.

Several weeks ago I made an amazing Tri-Fruit Dump Cake and briefly mentioned it in a post. For the bake sale, I made three more of these delicious desserts and I will share more specific details about how I made them.

A dump cake is one of the easiest yet most delicious desserts and there are so many flavor possibilities. I could not narrow it down to one fruit, so I used three.

Step one included one can of cherry pie filling which I enhanced with vanilla extract. Cherries + vanilla = YES.

Step two included a can of apple fie filling which I enhanced with ground cinnamon and maple sugar. Apples + cinnamon + maple = YES.

Step three included a can of sliced peaches in heavy syrup which I enhanced with almond extract. Peaches + almond = YES.

Once the fruit was in place, I added cubes of butter over the top.

On top of the butter I added one box of yellow cake mix.

And finally, more butter!

I baked them at 375 degrees for around forty-five minutes, until they were golden and bubbly. The house smelled amazing!

Now the only thing left to do is hope that these three beauties fetch a decent price at the bake sale! You can read more about Finally Home by visiting their website or searching them on social media.
